Fashion hits us at light speed through television, magazines, and from the gleaming streets of every vibrant city. Fashion sparks our interests while signifying our individual tastes in clothing, but there is something extremely definitive about the designers we choose to wear and how we go about choosing them. Luckily, SHE is the corner store of the city that carries designers such as Karen Zambos, Laila Azhar, Jill Stuart Mint, Castle Starr, Jovovich-Hawk, Crispin & Basilio, and Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent just to name a few. These designers enable us to live a life of ideas and images through clothing that speak louder than words. At SHE we say we represent the "woman who dares to be" because we do, in everything we choose to wear we dare to be something different. Whether you wear clothes that are timeless, or you become your own fashion muse, fashion is and always will be a stagnant pillar of idealism morphed and shaped by our growing inspirations and our desires to express how we feel by what we wear and how we wear it. So who are these designers we are falling head over heals for this season and why do we gravitate to their clothing? For starters, the essential bases of all the designers that we choose to represent in our store, believe in one fundamental idea: comfort equals success. As women, we can all agree that when we feel comfortable in our clothes, we can ultimately face any challenge while still standing tall. Karen Zambos for example, a Chicagoan at heart and now an LA based designer, creates exuberant silhouettes through her fine detailing of hard to find fabrics that exude a comfortable luxury from her dresses and trousers that you'll want to indulge in with a femininity of each dress and trouser that we promise you won't want to take off! Designer Laila Dairi of the clothing line Laila Azhar, went to Parsons school of Design where she learned modern and innovative skills that are functional today. She offers dresses for woman that are willing to bear all arms, showing off those formed figures with dresses that give the body shape while resonating a timelessness that many of us can't refute. However, built upon the base of comfort that already exists within these designers comes another aspect of fashion that is undeniable, the transformation act, when comfort can be worn from day into night. Another designer we have featured in more than one season is Mint by Jodi Arnold. Time and time again we see Mint fly off the racks for that very same reason, the look can be transformed and can transform you. As Arnold's staple items prove to be weightless, with shirts and dresses in luxurious patterns and fits, and looks creating iconic pieces for the workingwoman. Her clothing will give you an extra bounce in your step and an aura of dainty elegance in your stride. Dan Castle, creator of Castle Starr, however, lets out the little glam girl inside of all of us with his hint of sophistication twirled into wondrous teen fantasy clothing that becomes a true reality. You can expect effervescent colors and handcrafted beading in many of his pieces, along with detailed rosette tops adding to the texture and edge of these already structured yet feminine ensembles. Expect to see ruffle trims, cuffed sleeves, in a silk chiffon setting. Jovovich Hawk created by Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk is now on its third season of tailored looks for independent, hardworking, young women. First showcased at Fred Segal and now all over the U.S., Europe, and Asia, the looks epitomize the woman who dares to be vintage. The clothing will transport you back to a time of a rather simple elegance with a dash of flowery flair. The clothes reflect light pastels found in every shape and design, but the structure remains distinct and strong with a touch of gentleness. You'll end up depending on Hawk for those finer pieces that will make a statement at any dinner party on the block. Donny Barrios of the LA based line of Crispin & Basilio, reflects the Californian mentality of calm and relaxed living with panache from Filipino. Once a men's ware designer, he now knows construction that has spilled over into his women's wear and has done so with success recognized in Nylon, Lucky, and Women's Wear Daily. Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent rocketed in 2003's LA Fashion Week and has impacted the world of fashion since. She exemplifies pieces that have a WOW factor while solidifying a look of ease. Cynthia's growing inspiration could be summed up by her belief in making a statement, "To me, what is most inspiring is seeing a woman who is at once feminine, stylish, comfortable, and most of all, original," says Cynthia. Ideally, that's how we want our customers to leave when they are shopping with us at SHE, feeling comfortable, stylish, and ready to take on the world! Which is why we have brought these unique designers to our boutique and website to give you fashionista's the chance to access these essential looks of élan! |
